Designer: Description of Garden: The garden at Wyken is very cleverly designed as a set of traditional gardens organised as rooms to complement the Elizabethan house. These include a knot garden and a herb garden designed by Arabella Lennox-Boyd. There is an English kitchen garden, wildflower meadows, a nuttery with gazebo and a copper beech maze. Beautifully maintained, this is one of the best private gardens developed in recent years in this country. Features include the woodland garden, roses both new and old-fashioned, a plantsman's collection of plants, herbs, fruit, shrubs and herbaceous borders. Notable is the award-winning seven-acre vineyard. A new pond has recently been created and planted up. History: This garden was designed by Sir Kenneth and Lady Carlisle and also Arabella Lennox-Boyd. The garden improvement began in 1979 and continues.
