The plant sales area specializes in unusual species many of which can be seen growing in the garden. The grounds surrounding Scampston Hall, including a 19th century rock garden and a cascade circuit walk with children's play area, all set within magnificent 'Capability' Brown parkland, are also open to visitors. History: The original 18th century kitchen garden of Scampston Hall garden had been derelict for nearly fifty years when, Sir Charles and Lady Legard started the huge renovation task in 1999. Not content with a traditional restoration project - they had already done that in the House and surrounding gardens, they enlisted the help of leading garden designer, Piet Oudolf. He worked with a dedicated team of gardeners, on his largest private commission in the UK, to produce a stunning garden with a contemporary feel which sits well within its traditional surroundings. The garden first opened to the public in 2004. Local Inns: Accomodation: Restaurants: Village/Town/Sightseeing: Malton Castle Howard
