There are two lakes and a stream walk edged with water-loving plants. Many fine specimen trees include oaks planted by Queen Victoria and Queen Mary. History: Edward, Prince of Wales, later King Edward VII, purchased Sandringham in 1862 and employed William Broderick Thomas to re-landscape the gardens. Sir Geoffrey Jellicoe was employed by King George VI to create a new garden to the north of the House after the Second World War. H. M. The Queen and HRH The Duke of Edinburgh asked Sir Eric Savill to re-landscape the perimeter shrubberies and Woodland Walk in the 1960s.
