The garden now covers 30 acres, with woodlands providing cover for early snowdrops, drifts of bluebells, aconites and anemones. Alpine plants include the lovely celmisias from New Zealand and miniature iris and cyclamen from Crete. Herbaceous borders show the famous blue meconopsis and other varieties in red, white and yellow. Other herbaceous plants include the rare Myosotidium hortensia with its blue flowers. Shrubberies feature not only rhododendrons, camellias, magnolias, pieris and azaleas, but sycopsis, daphnes, telopea, cestrum, myoporum and many others. Water features in the garden include a wildlife pond and in 1994 a larger lake was added to the garden. There is also a pinetum with over 80 different conifers. The Japanese garden, which was a two year project, is now completed and very mature. The 4-acre Winter Garden is now looking very good. The plants, which number 5,000 - 6,000 varieties, are all labelled so it is worth taking a pen and paper when you visit to note your favourites, in this superb 'all year round garden'. Pine Lodge Gardens are located on part of the Cuddra Estate just to the east of St Austell. History: The garden was associated with the Rashleigh family in the 19th century.
