There is fine topiary throughout and a parterre of Hebes, Aliums and lavender within a rose garden. A summerhouse with extensive lawns in front and two flights of grass steps link the different levels. The garden is in an outstanding position standing high up overlooking the head of the 'Golden Valley'. There are very good Garden Nurseries attached, specialising in unusual herbaceous and perennial plants (closed Mondays). History: The garden was established in the late 17th Century and formalised in the early 18th Century. It was further enhanced by Sir Edwin Lutyens with the addition of the East Wing of the house which incorporates a loggia.
