One of the very few remaining places where an original experience of this period can be seen and enjoyed. Owned and cared for by the National Trust, Lyveden is brought to life through an audio tour. The newly planted orchard of over 300 trees contains many old varieties. The raised terrace, moated garden and prospect mounts take you on a journey to the remarkable garden lodge, designed to symbolise Sir Thomas Tresham's Catholic faith. History: Lyveden was not finished after work stopped in 1605. Tresham's death and his son's implication in the Catholic Plot left both the garden and lodge incomplete. Now being rediscovered, Tresham's dream is being brought to life. Tresham's ten-year project over 400 years ago is an amazing place to explore, in a beautiful rural setting in the heart of the historic Rockingham Forest, in Northamptonshire.
