Designer: Victor Shanley Description of Garden: At Goodwood a visitor will find a 24 acre site enclosed on two sides by an historic listed flint wall. It contains a changing collection of contemporary British sculpture in a very beautiful setting on the South Downs overlooking Chichester. There are now over 70 large-scale works and over the past 10 years, the owners have commissioned more than 100 large-scale sculptures from over 120 British artists. Every year around a third of the works move on to new homes around the world, making room for new commissions. History: Victor Shanley, the designer worked with forester Peter Harland and grounds manager Martin Russell to design the garden. They have devised an on-going plan of woodland renewal with native species of broad-leaf trees, adding to the diversity of stock and providing background colours that change with the seasons.
