In addition there are four herbaceous borders planted with shrub roses, shrubs and a variety of perennial plants - one border has a blue and yellow theme: another pink and red. History: The home of the same family for the past 600 years, it was built in 1300 and re-built in 1550. It has a mediaeval Great Hall, splendid fireplaces, panelling and plaster ceilings, a collection of Civil War arms and armour and a 3-acre moat. The formal garden to the south of the house was laid out in 1890. The designer is not known, though Gertrude Jekyll is believed to have approved of the design. The remainder of the garden was re-designed and re-planted with guidance from Lanning Roper in 1970 Local Inns: Red Lion Inn, Addenbury Plough, Bodicote Accomodation: Wroxton House Hotel, 2 miles away Restaurants: Village/Town/Sightseeing:
