They are found in secluded woodland half a mile from the castle and represent a haven of tranquility that has been lovingly restored to its original beauty by the 10th Duchess of Rutland. History: Belvoir Castle, home of the Duke and Duchess of Rutland, is superbly situated overlooking the Vale of Belvoir. The present Castle is the fourth to have stood on the site since Norman times. The existing Castle was completed in the early 19th century after previous buildings suffered complete or partial destruction during the Wars of the Roses, the Civil War and a major fire in 1816. The house has magnificent staterooms, containing notable pictures, tapestries and fine furniture. The Queen's Royal Lancers Museum is also situated within the Castle. The house has been used as a location for a number of films and television programmes.
