| Description of Garden | Designer:
Wendy Dare. Rupert Golby had input. |
|||||
| A two-and-a-half acre garden set in a tiny, steep-sided valley. The stream and millpond at the bottom are home to kingfishers and trout; the family Birman cats welcome guests and accompany them round the garden. A grotto beneath the tree house lends an air of mystery to the area. The Rose Walk, with weeping standards, leads up to the cricket lawn with a tiny pavilion and seats from Lords. The path goes on up to a fruit garden with "medieval tents" and a scratch-&-sniff" herb garden with the Church as backdrop and views over the Cotswolds. |
||||||
| History of Garden | ||||||
| Half the mill and garden were bought by Wendy and Barry Dare in 1965 when they knew nothing of horticulture. Pieces of land were acquired over time and expertise was gained to the extent that Wendy eventually served on a Floral Committee of the RHS and judged at Chelsea. | ||||||
