 Description of Garden
Designer:
It is a wonderful collection of different rooms including Cottage Garden, Wisteria Walk, 4 Naturalistic borders, Wild Flower meadow, Formal Garden, Major Container Displays, with over 40 climbing and Rambling Roses, and over 100 late flowering Clematis making this a wonderful garden to visit in June and July; also very distinctive Art inspired Gardens with Monet, Mondrian, Rothko, Hokusai, Hepworth and Kandinsky all represented.
 History of Garden
The Manor Farm House was rebuilt by architect, Henry Clutton for the Duke of Bedford on the site of the Old Hospitium dating back to the 13th Century where Pilgrims came to visit the Holy Well beneath the Church to help with eye ailments. John Bunyan lived nearby and wrote The Pilgrims Progress which many think is connected directly to Stevington through the Old Cross in the centre of the Village and the Holy Well/Spring/Sepulchre beneath the Church and indeed the Old Hospitium. Kathy walked on Ramblings BBC Radio 4 with Clare Balding discussing the literary landscape of The Pilgrims Progress in and about Stevington.
