 Description of Garden
Designer:
This is a spectacular woodland garden with a history of tree planting extending over 300 years. There are waymarked trails which highlight the special collections at Dawyck; the David Douglas trail where you can follow the intrepid adventures of this famous plant hunter, and the Scottish Rare plant trail where you can find out more about Scottish Native Plants.

Seasonal highlights include snowdrops, daffodils, rhododendrons, azaleas, streamside herbaceous plantings and spectacular autumn colours and berries. The visitor can find out more about fungi, mosses and lichens in the world's first ever reserve for non-flowering plants.

Dawyck has one of the world's finest arboretums with some wonderful mature specimen trees including the Dawyck beech and even a fine collection of stonework created by Italian craftsmen in the 1820's.
 History of Garden
The oldest surviving tree dates from 1690. Dawyck became one of the first National Botanic Gardens of Scotland in 1978.
