| Description of Garden | Designer:
Humphry Waterfield |
|||||
| The 14th century ruins of a fortified house, which still sports a Great Tower, provide a peaceful background to a tranquil garden, or rather a set of gardens, of which perhaps the main feature is a spectacular arbour of ancient wisteria. Walled gardens are resplendent with old-fashioned roses and beds of paeonies. The ornamental vegetable garden and the White Garden complete a picture of tranquillity. The Archbishop's Maze will also be of interest. | ||||||
| History of Garden | ||||||
| The property was bought by Sir Felix and Lady Brunner in 1937 and largely developed by them. | ||||||
