 Description of Garden
Designer: Humphry Waterfield
The 14th century ruins of a fortified house, which still sports a Great Tower, provide a peaceful background to a tranquil garden, or rather a set of gardens, of which perhaps the main feature is a spectacular arbour of ancient wisteria. Walled gardens are resplendent with old-fashioned roses and beds of paeonies. The ornamental vegetable garden and the White Garden complete a picture of tranquillity. The Archbishop's Maze will also be of interest.
 History of Garden
The property was bought by Sir Felix and Lady Brunner in 1937 and largely developed by them.
